2nd man sentenced in fatal 2023 Serra Catholic school van crash

The second of two men who were accused of racing, and crashing into a school van that killed a Serra Catholic student, has been sentenced,

Andrew Voigt is sentenced to up to 54 months in prison for the accident that killed Samantha Kalkbrenner on September 20, 2023.

“The sentencing indicates the seriousness of operating a motor vehicle recklessly, which results in injury to members of the public,” said Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala.

The other driver, William Soliday, pleaded guilty earlier this year to third degree murder and is sentenced to up to 12 years in jail.
