The record for the number of guns seized by TSA officers at Pittsburgh International Airport has been broken.
TSA officials stopped a Uniontown man, 29-year-old Domonique Hickenbottom, around 6:30 Tuesday afternoon at the main checkpoint.
They found a loaded 9-millimeter handgun in his carry-on bag.
Police say Hickenbottom did not have a concealed carry permit.
The 36 guns now confiscated breaks the record, 35 guns caught in 2019 at Pittsburgh International.
The record was tied on Saturday when a Natrona Heights man was caught with a loaded .38 caliber handgun.
Six guns have been stopped at the airport in the past 10 days.
TSA officials say the most common excuse they hear is that the gun owner forgot that had it on them.
Lisa Farbstein tells KDKA Radio that it’s part of a disturbing trend nationally.
Over 5,000 guns have been stopped across the country so far this year and the trend does not seem to be slowing down.
Passengers can travel with a gun, but it needs to declared and put in a checked bag.
