5-year Campbells Run Road project now under way

A major road project is underway Monday morning.

The day a five-year long project begins to widen Campbell's Run Road between Settlers Ridge and Keiners Lane, with the eventual addition of a new four-way intersection at Boyce Road and Parkway View Drive, and widening the Campbells' run Road offramp from the parkway.

Nine new retaining walls will also be built along with better traffic signals and sidewalks.

In an interview last month, Allegheny County Public Works Deputy Director Jason Molinero said flaggers would be out to help drivers with lane closures.

“Slow down in work zones, we have a lot of people that are going to be out there in the field working and making sure that everybody goes home at the end of the day is the most important part of how we judge the success of a project,” said Molinero.

The total price tag for the project is nearly $46 million.

While the project will be long, Molinero says when it's completed, it will be "worth it."
