PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Pennsylvania is experiencing a statewide 911 outage.

The alert came across cellphones around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities are still sorting out what is happening throughout the state. If you are in a smaller township or area, you should be able to get through to officers by calling your local police departments directly.

Philadelphia officials urge people to keep calling 911 in the event of an emergency, as some calls are still coming through. Backup systems are in place.
