Friday temperatures are bitterly cold, but a “warm-up”, albeit brief, is on the way.

But, most of Southwestern Pennsylvania will be under a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday at 1 a.m.

The National Weather Service expects 2 to 3 inches of snow to fall in our area during that time.

AccuWeather meteorologist Joe Lundberg tells the Big K Morning Show the worst of the snow will come through Friday night with an inch or 2 falling.

“And then I think (Saturday) there’ll be flurries in the air, but I don’t think they amount to all that much, Sunday looks dry,” said Lundberg.

That “warm-up” over the weekend will mean temperatures will make it to around freezing before another front comes through, plunging temperatures again on Tuesday.

Overnight lows will be in the single digits.

Lundberg says it won’t be toward the last few days of the month that temperatures get back to normal.

And, more snow could be on the way next week as well.
