Pittsburgh’s North Shore is celebrating a major milestone today. Acrisure Stadium is turning twenty-five.
It opened 25 years ago Tuesday as Heinz Field, becoming a fortress for championship football.
One of its most memorable moments came in the 2008 AFC Championship, when Troy Polamalu made a game-changing interception that sent the Steelers to the Super Bowl, where they would capture their sixth title.
The name changed to Acrisure Stadium in 2022, but the memories remain.
Now, as the North Shore continues to grow, leaders are looking ahead to potential stadium renovations before the current lease expires in 2031.
The stadium is currently undergoing a large seat replacement and other upgrades that are planned through 2028.
