Acting Pittsburgh Police Chief personally involved in arrest

Pittsburgh's top cop was personally involved in an arrest Wednesday night.

Acting Chief Jason Lando was driving home on the South Side when he noticed someone acting suspiciously, looking in the windows of homes.

Lando asked for help from other officers in finding him and as they were checking the area they saw another man sitting in a car that was idling who reacted when he noticed the police presence.

“and it put it in gear and just kind of peeled out of there and made it two blocks, could not negotiate a turn and he crashed into some parked cars,” Lando told KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin.

Lando added the man was intoxicated during the incident.

He also doesn’t want all of the attention on him.

“I don’t like to make a big deal about it, because our guys and ladies are out there doing much more every day,” said Lando, but adds the incident shows he and his officers are always on duty.
