Fundraiser started to help save North Hills pharmacy and eatery

Thursday headlines for Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh's Headlines: September 10, 2026

A fundraiser has been launched to save a beloved Pittsburgh-area full-service pharmacy and restaurant.

Adzema Pharmacy on Perry Highway in the North Hills says it needs to raise $20,000 to pay for plumbing upgrades.

Owner Jay Adzema says the Allegheny County Health Department “is enforcing code requirements, which up to now, I have been grandfathered into.”

Adzema adds the required upgrades have no effect on the current safety of its food.

With costs around $20,000, Adzema say he can’t afford to continue to operate if he doesn’t raise the funds for the upgrades.

“I am asking my loyal customers and supporters to help me stay in business,” Adzema said in a GoFundMe post. “Every bit helps, please consider any amount. Thank you.”

Adzema has been operating at a full-service pharmacy with a breakfast and lunch counter since 1959.
