Aggressive driving crackdown begins on Rt. 65

PennDOT and several local police departments hosted an event Thursday to remind motorists of the dangers that result from aggressive driving.

PennDOT’s Yasmeen Manyisha says the police departments participating in the Route 65 driving blitz includes, “everything from Bellevue borough, all the way down to Leetsdale.”

Police from Avalon, Edgeworth, Sewickley and Ohio Township are also participating in the crackdown.

Police will be looking for speeders, careless drivers, heavy truck violations, red light running, tailgating and more.

“We don’t want to see lives lost, we don’t want to see crashes happen,” added Manyisha. “We just need everyone to stay calm on the road and just get to where you’re going safety.”

There were 5,897 crashes due to aggressive driving, in PA, in 2023 and last year, there were 3,530 crashes that involved speeding.
