Aggressive driving enforcement underway in Pennsylvania

PennDOT, along with state and local police, is currently conducting a statewide aggressive driving enforcement wave.

This initiative aims to reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities by targeting aggressive driving behaviors like speeding, tailgating, and improper lane changes.

According to PennDOT data, there were 63,000 crashes due to aggressive driving in Pennsylvania last year.

Those crashes killed 580 people.

In Westmoreland County alone, there were 1,500 crashes and six fatalities.
Authorities also stress putting down the phone.

Effective June 5, the law - known as “Paul Miller's Law” - prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped.

PennDOT says this latest wave of targeting aggressive drivers will be in effect until August 17.
