Allegheny County Council is considering rules requiring candidates to disclose artificial intelligence-generated or altered images, video and audio in campaign ads.
Supporters say the rules would help voters know what’s real.
One supporter told council Tuesday AI-generated campaign material is degrading political culture.
The bill would apply to county races beginning in January 2027 with disclosures required to be clear and difficult to remove.
The bill now goes to council’s Government Reform Committee.
