The Allegheny County Health Department is looking into unhealthy air quality in the Mon Valley.

The department said readings at their PM2.5 Liberty Monitor have increased and remain in the unhealthy range.

They've been in contact with US Steel about the situation. The company told the department that that've taken their three oldest batteries offline. The department said it will continue to work with US Steel regarding the issue.

An Air Pollution Watch has been issued for the Mon Valley.

The health department is advising that young children, the elderly and people with respiratory problems limit outdoor activity while PM2.5 levels remain high.
