Aliquippa Mayor Dwan Walker took to the KDKA Radio airwaves to address some of the rumors that have been circulating about gang violence in the city
“There’s a report that somebody from Detroit or some gangs from Detroit are coming into Aliquippa, that’s unfounded, that’s the furthest thing from the true, there’s no evidence of that right now, that we can gather,” said Mayor Walker.
On the Big K Morning Show, Mayor Walker once again called on residents to remain vigilant, reiterating the old adage: if you see something, say something.
A post that appeared on social media claiming the community had been “invaded by the Detroit Boys” has caused a lot of reaction online.
Aliquippa Police say that the serious allegations of human trafficking, kidnapping and more are unsubstantiated at this time.
“We understand that posts involving allegations of violent crime, gangs, kidnapping, or human trafficking can understandably cause concern among residents,” said Aliquippa Police. “We ask members of the public to use caution when sharing unverified information on social media, particularly information that may unnecessarily create fear or alarm within the community.”
