Aliquippa police are asking residents to speak up as investigators work to address a recent rise in violent crime.
Chief John Lane says officers are increasing their presence in areas where violent crime has occurred, including the Linmar Terrace Neighborhood, with the goal of preventing more violence and responding quickly when crimes happen.
But, police say solving those cases requires help from the community.
Officials say investigators often knock on doors and speak with residents who may have information, but are sometimes met with resistance.
Police say four people were injured in a shooting last weekend during a Fourth of July gathering, but so far, no witnesses have come forward.
Chief Lane says public safety is a shared responsibility and is asking anyone with information about a shooting or violent crime to contact police.
He says even a small piece of information could help investigators identify those responsible and prevent future violence.
