It's official, Aliquippa will remain in Class 4A after Judge James Ross issued a ruling on Thursday that granted Aliquippa a preliminary injunction that will stop the Quips from being bumped up from Class 4A to Class 5A under the PIAA's competitive-balance rule.

Ross informed attorneys for both the PIAA and Aliquippa of his ruling.

PIAA executive director Bob Lombardi declined comment, as did Aliquippa football coach Mike Warfield.

The WPIAL will now have to re-issue schedules and conference alignments for some Class 4A and Class 5A teams.

The Quips won their fifth State Title this past season. The first undefeated season in school history.
