All city-owned bridges in poor condition or worse will be re-inspected and immediately closed if deemed unsafe. That's the word from Mayor Ed Gainey Tuesday.
He, along with other city leaders hosted the state House Democratic policy committee to talk infrastructure.
“We are looking at a full-blown, full-court press to make sure that we build confidence back in our infrastructure in our residents. That’s what our goal is,” said Councilman Corey O’Connor.
The group visited the Fern Hollow Bridge collapse site.
Leaders are hopeful construction will begin next month.
