Allegheny County Council voted Tuesday night to bar county employees from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
It was an 11-3 vote with one abstention after hours of public comment and heated discussion between council members.
The abstention came from Council President Patrick Catena who attended the meeting by phone after getting a threat.
County Executive Sara Innamorato says she'll sign the bill.
The Republican Committee of Allegheny County calls the vote reckless, politically motivated, and harmful to public safety.
While supporters say it protects immigrants.
