UPDATE From Allegheny County Health Department:
Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) was informed that two individuals who were at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (4401 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224) on Thursday, August 27, 2026 have tested positive for measles. The individuals were not residents of Allegheny County and left Allegheny County after their visit to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. For privacy reasons, the department cannot provide additional details about the individuals.
UPMC is calling patients and staff who have been identified as exposed on that date with further instructions. Potentials exposures may have occurred at the following locations and times on Thursday, August 27, 2026:
- Giraffe/Hippo Waiting Room on the 3rd floor: 1-4pm
- Giraffe Clinic on the 3rd floor: 2-5pm
- Cafeteria on the 3rd floor: 3-5pm
- Main Lobby on the 1st floor: 1-5pm
- Grape/Purple Elevators: 1-5pm
The Allegheny County Health Department is making a clarification after reports of an Allegheny County resident was reported to have measles.
The Health department says they have “no evidence or date to support that any resident currently has measles.”
They go on to say while there may be measles patient(s) in Allegheny County, the “ACHD is not informed unless the healthcare provider determines the patient is an Allegheny County resident.”
Anyone who is not a resident of Allegheny County but tests positive in Allegheny County (testing at UPMC, AHN, etc.), their case will be reflected in the county they reside in.
“Additionally, if a healthcare provider informs the county of potential measles exposure and the provider cannot identify all potentially exposed persons, ACHD will release a statement to inform the community of exposure areas so they can take necessary precautions,” the County says.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health’s latest dashboard update shows zero cases of measles in Allegheny County, with one in Westmoreland County and eight in Indiana County
