A Pittsburgh-area couple is close to completing a fundraising goal they set in 2008.
Bob and Denise Dunn’s house in Ambridge is transformed every holiday season into a Christmas wonderland thanks to over 20,000 lights, inflatables and decorations.
Every night, through January 6, “Uncle Bob” and Denise dress up at Santa and Mrs. Claus meeting visitors and collecting money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Their starting goal was $100,000. Now, 15 years later, the Dunn’s are only $8,000 away from reaching their goal and hope to be there by December 22 when St. Jude’s visits.
“The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment,” a statement says. “Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.”
The Dunn’s along with their niece also visit the Brady Center in costume to visit the children dealing mental illness and other behavioral issues.
