Dozen pets removed from 'deplorable' condition in New Ken

Pittsburgh's Headlines: June 9, 2026

A New Kensington woman is facing multiple charges after a local animal shelter pulled more than a dozen animals, including a dog, cats and kittens, from deplorable living conditions.

Police and animal rescue workers responded to the residence of Danielle Howard on Walnut Street in April after the landlord discovered a dead kitten in the house.

Rescue workers observed floors and furniture soaked with urine and feces, trash throughout the house, and empty water and food bowls.

Howard is awaiting arraignment on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and neglect of animals.
