An announcement is expected today about Downtown revitalization.

Sources say the corporate community, city and county governments are seeking state help to create a $30 million fund to help developers and building owners convert office space into residential units.

Rich Fitzgerald, Executive Director of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, was a guest on the Big K Morning Show.

"There's a lot more to it than that", he says, "about re-doing Smithfield Street, re-doing Ft. Duquesne Boulevard, there's a lot of changes in the way. Traffic patterns and pedestrian patterns, etc... will be part of it".

Last summer, Mayor Ed Gainey led a delegation to visit Cincinnati, where a non-profit has been converting downtown buildings.
