A consumer alert has been issued for an Asian barbeque restaurant in Squirrel Hill.
The Allegheny County Health Department says Teppan BBQ on Murray Avenue was hit with several violations, eight in total.
In a report, an inspection showed the lack of a proper three-bowl sing and dishwashing machine not working. Employees also couldn’t show the proper way to wash, rinse, sanitize and dry items
“Area inspector walked into the dish area and observed the employee rinsing off a colander with no wash, rinse, sanitize system in place,” the inspection states.
Another issue reported was no soap in at a handsink on the cookline and a handwashing sink in the dish/prep area had a large pot with water and “old rice” in it, a repeat violation.
No food protection manager was on site during inspection, a fire suppression system is not in compliance and, “no sanitizing step after animal food preparation in the sinks that are utilized for wash, rinse and sanitizing.”
