The automotive business in Western Pennsylvania is mourning the loss of an icon.
Gary Bowser died Saturday at the age of 81.
Mr. Bowser founded Bowser Automotive in 1983 after acquiring Al Schwartz Pontiac Subaru.
Bowser grew the business to over 450 employees and created one of the largest and most recognizable auto groups in Pittsburgh.
Born in Kittanning, Bowser married his high school sweetheart Barbara and they have two sons, Gary and Kurt.
He is also survived by his many grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking memorial contributions be made to the Stanley M. Marks Blood Cancer Research Fund, P.O. Box 18042, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 in Gary’s name.
The Power of Bowser has locations in Monroeville, Chippewa, Monroeville and its original location in Pleasant Hills on Clairton Boulevard.
