An armed bank robbery suspect was arrested in in Armstrong County Thursday, and it came with a twist.

Police were called to NexTier Bank at the intersection of Route 422 and Burton Drive for a reported robbery Thursday morning.

The suspect has been identified as 57-year-old Robert Beers Jr who was seen displaying a handgun and requested money from the three bank tellers according to a criminal complaint. He fled with $3370 in cash.

Beers was allegedly taken into custody after fleeing from the scene in Manor Township on an ATV. No one was hurt and all of the bank employees were safe. The money and the handgun were both recovered.

The bank closed for the remainder of the day and NexTier thanked local law enforcement for the quick response.
