Bethel Park School District is informing the community of two separate and unrelated DUI incidents that happened recently.

In the first incident, school officials say a bus driver was arrested and charged with DUI while driving high-school students’ home from a sporting event.

The district says “law enforcement intervened, and the driver was immediately removed from service. All students were safely transported and accounted for and each affected family was contacted.”

The suspect is no longer permitted to transport Bethel Park students.

In a second incident, a person unaffiliated with the district is accused of driving under the influence through the campus at Neil Armstrong Middle School during student dismissal.

No students were harmed during that incident.

“We understand that two incidents occurring so close together, though completely unconnected, are still deeply concerning. We want to assure you that we are taking immediate, deliberate action,” Superintendent Dr. Matthew Patterson said in a release to families.

Dr. Patterson just took over as superintendent his past month.
