A man with a knife was arrested Thursday morning at the Bethel Park Walmart, minutes after forcing his way into an occupied car and threatening the driver.
The female driver quickly escaped the vehicle and called for help, causing the suspect to flee on foot.
Police arrived within minutes, and caught the suspect nearby without further incident.
The suspect is in custody and faces multiple criminal charges.
Bethel Park Police are urging the public to always be aware of their surroundings.
“It can be easy to become complacent or distracted, particularly while sitting in a vehicle or using a cellphone,” BPPD said in a Facebook post. “We also encourage everyone to secure their vehicle whenever they leave it unattended or sit inside while parked.”
