The unique event was brought to life by two local business owners, Dave Yeany and his wife.

"My wife and I were sitting on the front porch one evening having a glass of wine, discussing the state of economic affairs in Marienville, and trying to figure out a way to bring more people to the area," Yeany said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Friday. "She looks over at me, she says 'you know what, I think a bigfoot festival would work.'"

Dave pitched the idea to the Forest County Business Alliance, which they adopted.

The event will feature a bigfoot hunt, a 5k walk, live music, food vendors and more.
