HARRISBURG (Newsradio 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) – The Pennsylvania House unanimously voted to designate a Westmoreland County roadway in honor and remembrance of the late Rep. Mike Reese.

Reese was born in Mount Pleasant and served as state representative for the 59thLegislative District form 2009 until 2021 before his untimely passing in January.

House Bill 1101 would designate part of PA Route 981 from the intersection of PA Route 819 to the intersection with State Route 2021 as the Honorable Mike Reese Memorial Highway.

“Mike was a great man, a great husband and father, a great friend and a great public servant,” prime sponsor of the bill Rep. Ryan Warner (R-Fayette/Westmoreland) said. “I am humbled by the opportunity to recognize him and carry out the grassroots effort of thousands of his constituents who have signed a petition requesting this road renaming in his honor.”

The bill now moves to the Senate for approval.
