Now a heavily-traveled bridge may be renamed in memory of Franco Harris.
The State House Transportation Committee is now considering a bill from Democratic State Representative Aerion Abney, of Pittsburgh, to rename the Fort Duquesne Bridge, making it The Franco Harris Bridge.
Abney's bill was introduced earlier this week with 24 bipartisan co-sponsors from all over Pennsylvania.
Abney's goal is to have the legislation quickly move through the legislature so the bridge could be renamed The Franco Harris Bridge in time for April's NFL Draft.
The Hall of Fame fullback was the first African American and the first Italian-American to be named Super Bowl MVP.
