McKees Rocks boxer Paul Spadafora off ventilator after dog attack

According to the wife of Paul Spadafora, the retired boxer is recovering after he was attacked by his dog.

In a series of posts on social media, Nadine Spadafora says “The Pittsburgh Kid” is off of a ventilator and is going to be out of the ICU sometime on Thursday.

Nadine says that Paul was “fighting being treated,” and that he waited a to “even go to the hospital” after the attack.

She says he lost a lot of blood. “So I’m sure with his adrenaline along with everything else he was really manic and aggressive.”

On Wednesday, Paul said he didn’t remember anything that happened and asked for the dog.

The 49-year-old retired boxer is a former IBF lightweight champion and finished his career with a 49-1-1 record.

The attack cause and artery in his left arm to be severed and had to undergo a long surgery to fix it.

Nadine tells KDKA Radio's Rob Pratte the incident happened on Sunday night and that doctors expect the 49-year-old, now living in Las Vegas, to make a full recovery.
