According to posts on social media, Pittsburgh boxer Paul Spadafora was seriously injured on Tuesday evening.
According to a post on Facebook, the McKees Rocks native was attacked by his dog and is not able to breath on his own.
“Please call out to Jesus for this one,” wrote Mike Miles on Facebook.
The 49-year-old retired boxer is a former IBF lightweight champion and finished his career with a 49-1-1 record.
“The Pittsburgh Kid” overcame drug and alcohol addiction and in 2005 was sentenced to 21-to-60 months for shooting his then-pregnant girlfriend, a woman he continues to be with to this day.
In 2018, Spadafora pleaded guilty to charges connected to an incident involving his brother and mother.
Police said Spadafora attacked his brother with a knife and kicked his mother.
According to an article published over the summer in “Boxing Scene” Spadafora has been in recovery, living in the Las Vegas area and teaching boxing.
