10-year-old found riding in construction equipment in Pittsburgh

A child stole a construction vehicle and went on a joyride Monday night, hitting and damaging multiple vehicles.

It happened on Fordham Street in Brookline just after 7:30.

Several people called 911 to report a child had stolen a Bobcat from a construction site in Mount Lebanon.

According to a police report, obtained by KDKA Radio’s Marty Griffin, the child had a construction hat on. When he got out of the vehicle he reportedly had what appeared to be a gun.

A neighbor, named Mary, says her daughter witnessed the incident and went down to try to tell the person to get off the Bobcat. It was at that point what she thought was a gun was pointed at her.

Mary tells The Big K Morning Show police told her this isn't the first time they've had an incident with the boy.

It turned out to be a BB gun.

Several departments responded to the scene.

several cars were damaged and needed to be towed. No one was seriously hurt.

Police officers detained the 10-year-old boy and released him to his family about an hour later.
