5-year-old recovering from self-inflected gunshot in Fayette Co.

A 5-year-old boy is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Fayette County.

The Pennsylvania State Police and the District Attorney are investigating to determine if charges should be filed.

It happened just before 7 a.m. Tuesday when Troopers were called to a home along Penncraft Road in East Millsboro.

Apparently, the boy took a pistol out of his mother's purse and was playing with it went the gun discharged wounding the child in the head.

The boy’s father told KDKA-TV, the boy was examined, given a few stitches and sent home.

The Fayette County District Attorney says charges may be forthcoming.
