Brand new giraffe care center coming to Pittsburgh Zoo in 2027

Coming next year to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium: a new giraffe care center.

Several years in the making, the new facility will be ten times larger than the current one.

President and CEO of the Zoo, Dr. Jeremy Goodman, says it will allow the zoo to add more giraffes and start a breeding program.

And zoo visitors will benefit as well.

“People can’t see our giraffes in the winter right now, too cold for them to be out and with the new facility they’ll be able to see them year-round,” said Dr. Goodman.

On the Big K Morning Show, Dr. Goodman said the zoo anticipates opening the new giraffe care center in spring of 2027.
