
A bridge that went viral several years ago when online pictures showed it had wooden posts underneath it, is a step closer to getting repairs.
The viral photos three years ago raised concerns that the South Negley Avenue Bridge over the Martin Luther King East Busway was dangerous.
But officials said the posts were to support the sidewalks.
Now repair works a step closer to starting Drivers in the Shadyside area are seeing traffic control signs up suggesting an imminent closure of South Negley.
City officials tell KDKA Radio that an engineering team will be on site to conduct structural analysis.
The rig that will be used for it will need to sit in the middle of the roadway, prompting the detour signs.
A community meeting could take place later this year, but construction itself, will still be several years away.
