"Bucco Bricks" have returned in a new way, nearly one year after the famed bricks were pulled from the ground and removed from outside PNC Park.
Pirates President Travis Williams says the personalized tributes have been transformed into commemorative bronze displays now mounted along the façade of PNC Park at West General Robinson Street and Mazeroski Way.
There are 16 plaques with a total of 10,000 fan messages on them.
The messages were previously on the ground outside of PNC Park on bricks, embedded in the sidewalk.
“Last year, we put a new sidewalk in place and we needed a new home for these messages,” said Williams. “These are really important to our fans, they’re really important to us.”
Each vertical bronze display stands five feet tall, stretches six feet wide, and weighs about 300 pounds.”
