South side business owners are looking for ways to revive and rebrand the city's South Side.
The area has seen an uptick in crime and violence recently.
With more than 20 percent of storefronts vacant, a coalition of business owners, including The Urban Tap's John DeMauro have put together a survey for business and property owners in response to some of the concerns plaguing the southside.
“The purpose of the survey is to get information from additional building owners on East Carson Street about, to see if some of the concerns that our core group have, align with them and see what some of their concerns, issues and really their vision. . . as far as what it looks like,’ said DeMauro.
He adds the survey will identify if other business owners want to try to find a solution independently from the city.
DeMauro says the group of 20 South Side property owners is focused on attracting both new businesses and customers while working to improve the street's reputation as a vibrant destination.
The online survey asks residents to rank everything from trash cleanup, and street sweeping, to public safety, and the owners’ top priorities over the next five years.
