UPDATE 2: An employee for the Superintendent's office tells KDKA Radio the lockdown has been LIFTED.
UPDATE: State Police are among the departments responding to the school. They are assisting Butler County law enforcement and school officers.
They say the “investigation to the threat is ongoing.”
All schools in the Butler Area School District were put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a reported threat.
Butler Superintendent Dr. Brian White says Butler County 911 contacted the district and informed him of the threat just before 11 a.m.
No other details about the threat are available at this time, but another Butler High School in Missouri was also placed on lockdown after receiving what they called “a ‘swatting’ call’.
The “hard” lockdown at the school in Missouri was lifted before noon.
Due to the threat in Butler County, PA, Knoch School district has gone on a modified lockdown “out of precaution.”
State Police say other districts in the area may also be on some type of lockdown.
