Butler crash survivor: Community rallies for injured girl

Pittsburgh Headlines

Pittsburgh's Headlines: August 12, 2026

A fundraiser has been started to help a 5-year-old girl who was seriously injured after a crash in Butler County earlier this month.

The young girl was involved in an accident on the night of August 3 on Dick Road in Connoquenessing when the car she was in hit a tree. She was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital and has been receiving treatment since.

The accident left her without the use of her legs and a spinal injury that ripped the nerve that controls her leg movements and bowels.

“A spinal fusion was done to help strengthen her spine and help it retain its form so that she would still be able to have a fraction of the life she was used to,” a GoFundMe reads.

To help with her treatment and continuing care, a GoFundMe has been started to help the young girl.

Grandmother Deborah Sciullo says the girl will likely need care for the rest of her life.

The Sciullo family are hoping to raise $45,000 to help her get the necessary care that she will need.
