Three youth football coaches will face charges after a brawl at a game in Carnegie went viral over the weekend. A ban and several suspensions have also been announced.
The fight happened during a Saturday game involving third- and fourth-grade players from the Carlynton and Keystone Oaks youth football teams. Carnegie Police Chief Jeffrey Kennedy says officers responded and, after reviewing video, determined Carlynton head coach DeQuay Canton appeared to start the fight and continued throwing punches as others tried to break it up.
Kennedy says two Keystone Oaks coaches also participated.
Canton faces misdemeanor disorderly conduct and summary harassment charges.
Keystone Oaks coaches Joseph Kubiak and Frank McGrath each face a summary disorderly conduct charge.
KDKA Radio’s Colin Dunlap is reporting that DeQuay Canton has been banned for life from the Steel City Youth Football League.
Several other people were suspended from both teams for various amounts of time. Some are banned for four weeks, other for the rest of the season.
Carlynton will also have security provided at all home games in the future.
Both teams, Carlynton and Keystone Oaks are being placed on two years of prohibition.
