A string of reported harassments in Carnegie has prompted the Mayor and Police Chief to release a joint statement.
Mayor Samuel Bigham and Chief of Police Jeffery Kennedy say they are aware of a group or groups of underage kids harassing businesses along Main Street.
One of those incidents was reported at the Woolly Bear Books and Tiger Moth Mercantile on Main Street.
The statement says the juveniles “disrupted an afterhours queer book club” afterhours and were using slurs.
The owner of Woolly Bear says incidents have been happening on Main Street for “well over a year now.”
The mayor and police chief encourage the public to report any harassment incidents by calling 911.
“Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated in Carnegie,” the statement reads. “We want to foster a welcoming community where anyone can freely live, shop and work.”
