A cat that has been missing for five months has been reunited with its owner.
Meagan Harra was letting her dog outside in August when Oscar the cat snuck outside of her Washington County home.
Harra hoped that Oscar would come back, but days turned into weeks, which turned into months.
Harra though she would never see him again.
But then on January 5, a stray cat was brought into the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh in East Liberty after someone saw a stray cat on their porch one night.
The next morning, the cat was still there.
After a scan of the cat, a microchip was found and Harra was notified that Oscar has been found.
Meagan and Oscar were reunited on Wednesday.
HARP says this situation highlights the importance of having your pet microchipped.
“It is the best way to protect pets should they go missing,” HARP said in a statement.
