Flag Day, officially, is today, and many Pittsburghers may not know that the National Flag Foundation is in Downtown Pittsburgh.
Not Philadelphia, Not Washington, D.C., New York or Boston.
The foundation's chairman, Romel Nicholas, spoke to KDKA about the foundation:
"It was brought here many years ago to highlight the importance of our region in history, ranging from the Revolutionary War through the Industrial Revolution, and even now with energy," he said.
He talked about its mission:
"It's mission is simple: to educate about the American flag and honor those who served to protect it," he added.
The National Flag Foundation is located at the Koppers building Downtown.
