Fire breaks out at Charlie Batch's non-profit building

Pittsburgh's Headlines: June 30, 2026

Firefighters quickly contained a fire at a Homestead nonprofit Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out just before 9:30 Tuesday morning at the Best of the Batch Foundation on West Street, a nonprofit founded by former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch.

Fire officials say the flames started outside the building and spread into part of the structure before crews brought it under control.

Best of the Batch released a statement that states “there were no campers inside at the time of the incident and all individuals are safe.”

In a social media post, the foundation said everyone is safe and announced it would be closed for the rest of the day.

The foundation is working with local officials to “ensure the building is in safe condition to resume camp.”

Updates will be provided on the Batch website.
