A township council meeting in Beaver County last night was packed with people concerned about chemical odors in Rochester.

Many in the the community believe a harsh chemical smell is coming from the Sherwin-Williams plant.

Solicitor Stephen Chesney thinks something needs to be done including notifying the Department of Environmental Protection:

"If there's any code that they're violating, I then coordinate with Code Enforcement, make sure they enforce our ordinances. So if the DEP's not going to take action then maybe we can research looking into filing a lawsuit," he said.

Sherwin-Williams told KDKA-TV it is working with the DEP to investigate the odor.

Neighbors say DEP was in the neighborhood this week looking at a sewer line.
