Demolition of the Cheswick power plant boiler house took place Sunday, a moment neighbors were waiting for. But the outcome? Not so much:
Only 70% of the structure came down.
The owner of the structure, Cheswick Power Station, and contractor B&B Wrecking and Excavation Inc. say the structure is “currently stable” and no injuries were reported.
A demolition of the remaining parts of the building is scheduled to be demolished on Saturday, March 8, weather permitting.
Springdale Borough Police say the same traffic restrictions from this past Saturday around the area of the demolition will be in place when the rest of the structure comes down.
