Pittsburgh City Council has tossed a bill that would have enforced a curfew for minors.

Instead, council President Teresa Kail-Smith wants to focus on establishing family resource centers.
She told the Big K Morning Show, she's happy her curfew bill got people talking.
“It’s good that we are actually having the conversation, but getting the centers up I think would be critical and getting them right,” said Kail-Smith. “They do have them in other cities, I think in Philadelphia they have them and other places where they are helpful. Matter of fact in Philly they’re getting ready to open three more.”
Her new bill introduced Wednesday would create a committee focused on establishing family resource centers.
The centers would also provide resources to parents, guardians and grandparents in need of help.
“I think it’s a conversation that has to continue, but our kids don’t have time for us to discuss this forever,” Kail-Smith said during a council meeting. “Our families don’t want to hear it’s going to take years before we change a culture, they want to know what we’re doing today to stop their kids from being shot.”
It was unanimously recommended for a vote.
