After nearly 50 years, a part of Pittsburgh history officially returns to store shelves Wednesday.
Boyer Candies, Altoona-based owner of the iconic Clark Bar, says it recently discovered a “forgotten Clark recipe” recently in the Clark archives.
The returning Clark Crush Bar is a chocolate bar “with peanuts butter, pieces of Clark crunch, and other rich Clark flavors.”
Boyer says the recipe had been forgotten for nearly 50 years.
To celebrate its return, a launch partner will be held at Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop on Penn Avenue in the Strip District at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The first 100 customers in like at 9 a.m. will get a free Clark Crush Bar.
“This isn’t a new Clark Bar. It’s a piece of Clark history brought back to life,” said Anthony Forgione II, CEO of Boyer Candy Co. Inc. “When we discovered this recipe in the archives, we knew we had found something special. Clark has such a deep history in Pennsylvania, and generations of people have a connection to this brand. Bringing the Clark Crush Bar back gives fans a chance to experience another chapter of that history.”
The Clark Crush Bar will be available at local retailers including Grandpa Joe’s locations in the Canonsburg, Beaver, Mt. Lebanon and the Strip District.
