If you’re making big plans for the solar eclipse on Monday, you might want to have a backup activity planned.

According to AccuWeather, cloudy skies are expected on Monday afternoon in the Pittsburgh area.

Meteorologists tell KDKA Radio about 92 percent cloud cover is expected and a few showers could even pop up in spots.

Essentially, you’ll be lucky if you get an unhindered view of the solar eclipse.

The good news, the high on Monday is expected to be 65, but the temperature will dip during the eclipse when the moon covers the sun.

Pittsburgh will get a 97 percent totality of the eclipse.

Up north in Erie, PA, AccuWeather says they expect the same type of weather with mostly cloudy skies.

So, if you’re heading north Monday, double check the forecast before leaving.

Hopefully the forecast improves before Monday's celestial event.
