One local university was impacted by a nationwide Canvas outage and data breach affecting colleges across the country.
La Roche University alerted students and staff in an email sent around 8 p.m. Thursday that Canvas, the online learning platform used for assignments and communication, was temporarily unavailable as a nationwide outage impacted thousands of schools.
A second email later notified students access was restored around 11:45 p.m.
Officials also say Canvas recently detected unauthorized access exposing some user data, including names, emails and student ID numbers.
La Roche says there’s currently no indication any campus data was compromised.
